The Glassboro Mayor and Council voted on Oct. 14 to send a proposed agricultural overlay zoning ordinance to the planning board for review and gave the ordinance its first reading.
Resolution 2‑74‑25 directs the Glassboro Planning Board to examine the proposed overlay, which staff described as a zone that would be applied "over top" specified farm parcels at the request of property owners. Following the resolution, council introduced Ordinance 25‑28 on first reading, proposing amendments to chapter 107 (development regulations and zoning) to create the agricultural overlay zone and update the borough zoning map. The ordinance will proceed through the normal planning‑board review and subsequent readings before final adoption.
During the public portion a resident asked where the overlay would apply; Clark (borough staff) said the overlay is intended to cover certain farm parcels identified at the owners' request. Council did not specify a final map or parcel list at the Oct. 14 meeting; further detail and any recommended changes will be determined in the planning‑board review process.
Next steps: the planning board will review the draft overlay per Resolution 2‑74 and return recommendations to the council for subsequent readings. Any statutory noticing or public hearings required by the Municipal Land Use laws will be conducted during that process.
