Ottawa council adopts 33 annexation agreements after brief public hearing on sewer connection fee

The Ottawa City Council on June 16 adopted 33 annexation agreements covering properties in the Bona Terra subdivision after a short public hearing. Corporation Counsel Christina Cantlin opened the hearing and explained that each annexation agreement includes a $9,800 fee that would apply if a parcel later connects to the city's sanitary sewer system. No members of the public spoke and Mayor Robert Hasty closed the hearing at 7:03 p.m.

The council then approved a resolution authorizing execution of the 33 annexation agreements. Mayor Hasty moved the resolution; Commissioner Barron seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Following the resolution, the council considered and passed a series of individual ordinances annexing specific parcels into the City of Ottawa. Each ordinance was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition.

The ordinances annex the listed addresses into the city and place them under the municipal code and city services described in the agreements.
