State Building Commission approves leases, maintenance and construction requests across state agencies and UW campuses

The State Building Commission, chaired by Governor Tony Evers, met Dec. 18 in Madison and approved a slate of lease, maintenance and construction requests across state agencies and the University of Wisconsin System.
The commission approved a 10-year lease for about 7,537 square feet at 1101 Carmichael Road in Hudson on behalf of the Department of Corrections, with initial annual costs estimated at $197,469.40 (about $26.20 per square foot). It also approved multiple All Agency maintenance and repair requests for the Department of Corrections, including a KMCI toilet/shower remodel and an administrative building HVAC upgrade, and several Department of Health Services projects totaling $4,712,900 including an elevator rebuild and heating-plant envelope repairs.
The panel approved energy and maintenance projects for the Department of Military Affairs and repairs for the Western Region bridge program; the Department of Natural Resources received a $205,000 release from Building Trust Funds to prepare preliminary plans and a design report for new fire response and fabrication facilities at the Lemay Forestry Center. The Veterans Affairs item to modify chillers at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, with an estimated combined cost of about $14.5 million across funding sources, was also approved.
On higher-education matters, the commission approved UW–Madison's request to demolish a triplex on Bernard Court to prepare for the Levy Hall academic building, authorized release of $15,255,000 SEG REV for the 2023-25 Instructional Space and Technology Projects Program (covering projects at UWGB, UW–Madison and UW–Oshkosh listed in the record), and released $4,736,000 SEG REV for minor facilities renewal projects such as Williams Fieldhouse exterior envelope work. A broad package of campus maintenance and renewal requests across the UW System was approved as recorded.
Most motions were moved by Senator Brad Pfaff and seconded by Senator Andre9 Jacque (as noted in the record), with approval tallies documented for each request.
