The Silver Spring Township Zoning Hearing Board on Jan. 12 unanimously appointed Donald Franklin as chairman and Richard Maffett as vice chairman and confirmed its membership for the year. The board also appointed Kayla Zizzi, Esquire, of Tucker Arensberg, P.C., as solicitor.
Chairman Donald Franklin announced that Mark Potteiger, a member of the Silver Spring Township Board of Supervisors, will serve as a liaison between the Board of Supervisors and the Zoning Hearing Board. Franklin said Mr. Potteiger “will not participate in the discussion or decision making process of an application before the Zoning Hearing Board.”
The motions to appoint Franklin (moved by Richard Maffett, seconded by Darrell McMillan), appoint Maffett as vice chairman (moved by McMillan, seconded by James Hall), and appoint Zizzi as solicitor (moved by Franklin, seconded by Ryan Siney) each passed unanimously. The board also moved and approved a motion confirming Ryan Siney, Darrell McMillan, and James Hall as members alongside Franklin and Maffett.
The reorganizational votes were procedural and unanimous; no public comment was received on the appointments. The board then proceeded to other agenda items, including a special-exception hearing and a review of proposed sign-ordinance amendments.
