Rochelle Park superintendent: district moving up on NJQSAC; NJSLA scores presented

Superintendent Dr. Sue DeNobile told the Rochelle Park Board of Education on Oct. 28 that the district passed all NJQSAC monitoring areas except Instruction & Program; the district scored 74% and has taken steps that have raised the measure to about 77 percent, though the district will require additional monitoring.
"It was wonderful to see everyone in the audience. It is always a pleasure to celebrate achievement," Dr. DeNobile said as she reviewed progress and urged parental partnership to sustain improvement on state monitoring measures.
Director of Curriculum & Instruction Cara Hurd presented the NJSLA Spring 2025 scores and student recognitions; she told the board that the slides and the meeting recording would be posted on the district website for public review. Principal Dr. Courtney Carmichael presented the 2024–25 School Self-Assessment under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act and the board approved submission of that assessment to the New Jersey Department of Education.
Special services supervisor Jessica DiCori highlighted the DLM alternative assessment format—shorter modules of about 15 minutes instead of 90 minutes—and reported that 83% of evaluated students performed at grade level or advanced on those measures. The superintendent also noted district investments in CPI training and a district award related to mindfulness practices.
