Eunice board appoints mayor pro tem, approves suspension, accepts resignations and declares surplus equipment

At its March 11 meeting the Eunice Board of Aldermen appointed Alderwoman Germaine Simpson as Mayor Pro Tem, approved a two-day unpaid suspension for Officer Andrew Clark, accepted two resignations in the police department, declared specified fire-department equipment surplus, and approved the city’s bills for February 2025.
Mayor Scott A. Fontenot nominated Alderwoman Germaine Simpson to serve as Mayor Pro Tem; the motion was moved by Alderman Randall Reed, seconded by Alderwoman Connie Thibodeaux and carried. Police Chief Kyle LeBouef recommended a two-day suspension without pay for Officer Andrew Clark; the board concurred on a motion moved by Alderman at Large Marion “Nootsie” Sattler and seconded by Alderman Randall Reed.
The board also accepted the resignation of Police Officer Landon Fruge, effective Feb. 27, 2025 (motion by Alderman Randall Reed, seconded by Alderman Chad Andrepont), and accepted the resignation of Reserve Police Officer Devon Johnson, effective Feb. 24, 2025 (motion by Alderman Chad Andrepont, seconded by Alderwoman Germaine Simpson). Fire Chief Chaise Brown’s recommendation to declare surplus several items — a Tei-Star six-burner stove; a Make AC105 Comp Air Compressor Cascade System (Serial #54054151); a McCulloch 5,700-watt portable generator (not working); four window air-conditioning units; and one gas Reznor ceiling-mount heater — was moved by Alderman at Large Sattler, seconded by Alderwoman Thibodeaux, and carried.
Finally, on a motion by Alderman Chad Andrepont, seconded by Alderwoman Germaine Simpson, the board carried a vote to approve payment of the city’s bills for February 2025 and acknowledged receipt of the city’s financial reports.
