Eunice OKs community clean-up plans; library seeks speaker grants and volunteers

Donna Baltakis, chairperson of the Keep Eunice Beautiful committee, told the Eunice Board of Aldermen on March 11 that Love the Boot Week will be observed April 5–13, 2025, and that Eunice’s local clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, April 12. Baltakis said the effort typically produces large volunteer turnout statewide but that Eunice still needs two additional organizations to participate in order to meet the conditions of a related grant.
Dr. Tony Baltakis, president of the Eunice Public Library Board, reported that Library Director Allison Duplechin has returned from a short absence and that library staff plan to pursue grants to bring guest speakers and discussions to the library under a "Friends of the Library" initiative. The board heard these staffing and programming updates but did not take formal action.
The mayor also announced the Eunice Chamber of Commerce’s 38th Annual World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cookoff will take place Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northwest Center Pavilion on Samuel Drive.
