Township officials on June 22 discussed emergency-vehicle procurement after no bids were received for an ambulance. Solicitor Mr. Burns confirmed that the township must rebid the ambulance procurement; the clerk and chief discussed whether the vehicle could be purchased under a state contract, but the chief said state-contract prices were out of range. Mayor DeGroff suggested buying a used ambulance as an alternative during the rebid process.
Separately, Clerk Maryalice Brown reported that a contract with HGAC was finalized, allowing the fire chief to purchase a new truck; during public comment, Debbie Bowker asked whether the new truck is a tanker and Chief Viscardi responded that it is. The chief also reported operational matters: a few vehicle fires, one engine out of service for mechanical repairs, a certified EMT added to the school roster, and a successful coin collection fundraiser.
The solicitor’s direction to rebid the ambulance and the chief’s authorization to buy a truck under HGAC are recorded as administrative directions in the meeting minutes; no formal vote on procurement approach was taken at the meeting. The committee also discussed demolition of the First Aid Squad building in Lebanon Lakes scheduled for fall and plans to rent equipment from Tabernacle to repair potholes on Tuckerton Road.
