Woodland Township swears in two lieutenant firefighters and praises storm response

WOODLAND TOWNSHIP — Clerk Maryalice Brown swore in Trevor Clear and Paul Hullings as newly promoted lieutenant firefighters during the Woodland Township Committee's Jan. 28 meeting, and officials used the meeting to recap response to a Jan. 25 winter storm.
"Everyone did a great job," Mayor DeGroff said, praising the work of the Department of Public Works, Fire and EMS after an OEM-declared state of emergency expired Jan. 27 at 5:00 p.m. OEM reported that the state of emergency declared for the Jan. 25 storm had ended and publicly thanked municipal crews and residents for following directives during the event.
Public Works outlined operational actions taken during the three-day storm: preparing equipment and crews, organizing the municipal garage, trimming trees, repairing potholes, repairing a generator and maintaining road conditions. The department specifically thanked staff and a local volunteer, Tom Getz, for their assistance. Clerk Brown also thanked Committeeman Mark Herndon and Jenine Sulpizio for clearing frozen steps at the township building.
The meeting also recorded routine administrative reminders: a rabies clinic on Feb. 10 from 5–7 p.m., dog licenses due by March 31, and that auditors had begun financial-statement work. The committee congratulated the newly promoted firefighters and adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
