The Early City Council voted Aug. 5 to redirect lost funds to cover expenses for a well-improvement project that the city says will not be fully covered by its State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan. Councilor Cory Tiefenthaler moved the measure and Councilor Brandon Scadden seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote by all five members present.
Wes Boyer of Bolton & Menk provided an update on the project, saying geoprobe work at 15 locations near the existing 2R well had been completed and the results arrived the same afternoon. City public works director Kris Alesch told council staff are completing temporary water restoration for affected residents but are waiting on a few parts to finish the work. A more detailed engineering report and plan of action will be presented at the council’s Sept. 9 meeting.
The action directs city funds described in the meeting as 'lost funds' to cover project expenses not funded by the SRF loan; council did not specify the exact dollar amount being transferred at the meeting. The motion was made in open session and recorded by roll call: Ayes — Pickhinke, Scadden, Tiefenthaler, Madden, Langner. No members voted no or abstained.
