The Glassboro Mayor and Council on June 24 adopted two ordinances approving five-year tax-exemption financial agreements for downtown development projects.
Borough Solicitor read the ordinances into the record, saying, “This evening, we have 2 ordinances for public hearing,” and described Ordinance 25-16 as an agreement with Chabot and Rowan, Inc. for Block 21 Lot 8 and Ordinance 25-17 as an agreement with Vision Glassboro, LLC for Block 413 Lot 14. The solicitor opened the floor for public comment on both items; no members of the public spoke on these ordinances.
After a motion to adopt both ordinances as written, council members voted and the clerk recorded the motion as carried. The meeting record shows the ordinances advanced at the public hearing and were adopted at that meeting.
The adopted measures authorize the borough to enter the described financial agreements under the five-year tax exemption/abatement framework identified in the ordinances; the solicitor read the affected block and lot numbers during the hearing. The council’s action was procedural and taken by roll call after the public hearing portion for those specific ordinances closed.
Next steps: the ordinances will be filed as required and the borough will proceed to finalize the financial-agreement documents referenced in the adopted ordinances. The public record for each ordinance includes the motion, the roll-call adoption, and the ordinance text as read by the solicitor.
