Pegram swears in Mayor Charles Morehead, names Bob Sanders vice mayor

The Town of Pegram on Aug. 26 formally swore in Charles Morehead as mayor and Miranda Montgomery and Bob Sanders as aldermen, and unanimously appointed Alderman Bob Sanders as vice mayor.
Mayor Charles Morehead greeted the board after the oaths and thanked departing officials, saying the board includes "differences of opinions" but urging civil conduct. "Social media is killing the town," Morehead said, urging residents to keep disagreements off public forums and work together.
The swearing-in was administered by Mayor McCarver. Roll call showed Randy Howington, Bob Sanders, Charles Morehead, Miranda Montgomery and Michael Paszek present; Martha Brooke Perry, city attorney, and Tina Morehead, recorder, also attended.
The board dispensed with the regular agenda and approved the proposed agenda by majority vote before addressing nominations. Morehead nominated Sanders as vice mayor; the motion was seconded and the board voted unanimously to appoint him. The oath for the vice mayor was performed at the meeting.
During announcements Morehead thanked John Louallen for his service to Pegram and noted the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury had approved the town's 2024–2025 budget. The mayor also used his remarks to encourage civil dialogue among residents and board members.
The board recessed briefly for a public hearing and reconvened at 7:18 p.m. The meeting proceeded to approval of minutes and the remainder of the agenda, which included multiple contract and procurement votes.
