During the general public‑comment portion, Jeanette Bergeron asked the council to sign on to or otherwise support the Climate Superfund Act currently under consideration by the New Jersey Legislature, saying the legislation is needed to secure funding to mitigate damage from climate change. “It's important that we get the Climate Superfund Act passed by the legislature and the governor... so that we can move forward with gaining funding to mitigate all the damages that are done by the changing climate and the storms that we have been suffering,” Bergeron said. Council members said they would take the request under consideration and follow up where feasible.
Later in the public‑comment period, Jeff Bach and Juan Glass asked the council to support a community drive‑by birthday celebration for a local World War II veteran who will turn 101 on Dec. 15 and who lives at Azalea At Hamilton. Bach said organizers hoped the township would participate in the drive‑by that evening. The council president said the township might be able to prepare a belated resolution or recognition at the next meeting (Dec. 16) and asked the organizers to share contact details so staff could coordinate.
Council members expressed appreciation for the veterans’ service and thanked residents for raising the issues; they asked staff to follow up on the climate request and to consider formal recognition of the centenarian veteran at a future meeting.
