Council moves ordinance to make Hamilton 'film ready' and advances salary ordinance

At the meeting Hamilton Township Council moved forward with Ordinance 226, which would amend municipal code to allow and regulate commercial filming and still photography, positioning the township as 'film ready.'
A council member described the film industry as a growing economic sector in New Jersey and said the ordinance would help Hamilton gain related economic benefits and jobs. “The film industry is is a growing, industry in New Jersey, and Hamilton is with this ordinance positioning itself to be a part of the economic benefit of that and the jobs and and everything else that comes along with that,” a council member said during the discussion.
With council present, the public portion was closed and the ordinance was moved forward per the required steps; the clerk recorded affirmative votes in the record. Council also approved a motion to introduce an ordinance on salaries and compensation for municipal officials and employees on first reading, which was moved and seconded and recorded as advanced to the next stage. Additional hearings and formal adoption steps remain for those items.
The ordinances’ materials and proposed compensation figures will be posted with the municipal agenda and scheduled for further council consideration.
