Village of Stetsonville adopts citation and overgrowth ordinances; fee schedule due in February

The Village of Stetsonville Board approved new measures to enforce property-maintenance standards at its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting. On a motion by Will McCarron, seconded by Tyler Lemke, the board approved an Authorization for Use of Citation and the Overgrowth of Grass, Weeds and Shrubs ordinance; the motion passed with "All ayes."

Marsha Duellman raised a request for an update on property maintenance during the public-comment period, prompting discussion of enforcement tools and potential penalties. Board members reviewed copies of proposed ordinances and discussed different citation types and fee levels that would be needed to operationalize the new citation authority.

The board directed staff to draft a detailed Schedule of Fees and to present a suggested revision to the proposed abandoned-vehicle ordinance at the Feb. 9, 2026 meeting. No specific fee amounts were recorded in the minutes; the board’s instruction was to return with a written fee schedule for formal consideration.

The ordinances adopted at the meeting authorize the village to use citations to enforce overgrowth and related property-maintenance issues, but the minutes show that the specific fee schedule and any changes to the abandoned-vehicle ordinance will be decided at a subsequent meeting. The next regular meeting is Feb. 9, 2026.
