Stetsonville moves forward on wastewater regionalization, approves sewer-inspection proposal

Village of Stetsonville trustees on Oct. 20 received an update on the ongoing wastewater regionalization project and approved an inspection proposal for the village sewer lines.
David Walters of SEH told the board the project schedule needs revision, utility-location mapping is still outstanding and some wetlands have been identified that may affect routing and construction. Walters said a rate analysis remains to be completed; the board did not set a date for that analysis at the meeting. Alex Zenner of the City of Medford told trustees the regionalization route being pursued likely does not require a Wisconsin DNR permit.
Why it matters: Regionalization could change where wastewater flows are treated, affect local utility rates and require intergovernmental agreements. Trustees said the village must complete mapping and a rate study before committing to construction steps.
The board approved a proposal from Visu‑Sewer to inspect sewer lines after a motion and second (McCarron/Riemer). The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. Jay Jochimsen, who presented municipal wastewater and water reports, said test results currently are within required guidelines, hydrant flushing is scheduled for the week of Oct. 27, and AMS is finishing sludge removal in wastewater ponds. Jochimsen added that Well No. 2 is back online but requires further repairs. He also reported copper-and-lead testing found two sites with elevated copper readings; the report did not specify the exact locations of those sites.
The board did not take any construction approvals at the meeting; Walters indicated additional scheduling and mapping information would be circulated by email when available.
What’s next: Trustees approved the Visu‑Sewer inspection and expect further schedule updates and the pending rate analysis to be shared by project staff. No formal decision to begin construction or to set new rates was made at the Oct. 20 meeting.
