Salem Township approves grant application for Seanor Park maintenance equipment

Supervisor Kenneth Trumbetta moved to approve the resolution, which designates an agent to act on behalf of the township and authorizes submission of required pro forma documents; Supervisor Kerry Jobe seconded the motion. The motion passed with Supervisors Bob Zundel, Kenneth Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voting in favor.
The board reviewed contractor quotes for two building sizes and two mower options. Officials discussed a smaller 24×28 shed and a larger 40×40 shed; the larger building was quoted at $64,780. After weighing options, the board agreed to request funding for the larger building and the larger mower, setting a total grant request of $78,690.28. Board members noted that if the grant award is smaller than the request, the township would need to make up the difference with local funds such as Act 13 or other sources.
Resolution 26‑2024 seeks a Category 4 Facilities Local Share Assessment grant through the Commonwealth Funding Agency to cover the costs of the Seanor Park maintenance equipment project and authorizes township officials to execute and submit the grant documents.
A procedural motion to adjourn was made by Supervisor Kerry Jobe, seconded by Supervisor Kenneth Trumbetta, and passed unanimously. The special meeting adjourned at 11:17 a.m.; the board announced the next regular supervisors meeting will be Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
