Early City Council approves water supply piping contract and $47,000 investigative proposal

The Early City Council on June 23 approved two measures intended to advance water infrastructure work. Councilor Brian Pickhinke moved to accept Schmitt Construction’s bid of $17,323.54 for the Water Supply Piping Connection; Councilor Cory Tiefenthaler seconded the motion, and a roll-call vote was recorded with Pickhinke, Christine Madden, Tiefenthaler and Brandon Scadden voting aye.
The council then approved a Geoprobe proposal with LRE Water and Plains Environmental Services, INC, to perform geotechnical/environmental investigative work at a cost of $47,000.00. Councilor Brandon Scadden moved the measure, Councilor Tiefenthaler seconded, and the council approved the proposal by a show of hands (ayes: Pickhinke, Madden, Tiefenthaler, Scadden).
Together, the two approvals authorize both the physical piping work and investigative services described in the proposals. The motions were made and passed during a special meeting called by Mayor William Cougill that began at 6:00 PM and concluded with later business at 6:21 PM. The council member Tim Langner was absent.
