Ariel Little League asks school board permission to buy field tarps and a flagpole

At the Gloucester Township Public Schools board meeting, Ariel Little League’s president described recent volunteer-funded improvements to the junior/senior field behind Ariel Elementary and asked for the board’s blessing to buy protective covers and a flagpole.
"We just put around $4,000 into upgrades to that field itself," Andrew De Vecchio told the board, listing repairs to the pitcher’s mound, batter’s boxes and infield. De Vecchio said the League would pay for vinyl tarps for home plate and the pitcher’s mound to protect those areas and explained the tarps are weighted so wind is not a problem.
Staff confirmed the field is district property, that the league completed facilities-use paperwork this year and that the district had approved requested dates. De Vecchio asked permission to add a flagpole by the field shed; district administrators asked Bilodeau to consult with the appropriate staff and return with a determination.
The board did not take formal action; administrators said they would follow up with the league about installation details and necessary approvals.
