Commission on Disabilities updates HAWK crossing and library accessibility; committee items and local projects noted

Paul Remy, representing the Sharon Commission on Disabilities, told the COA Advisory Board that a meeting is scheduled next week with the police chief to discuss operation of the HAWK pedestrian crossing system at the library. Remy said the commission is also working on installing automatic door openers for the library bathrooms to improve accessibility.
During committee reports, board members noted there was no update from HESSCO (E. Feldman). M. Kempner reported FSCOA is researching credit card options for fundraising. R. Maidman referenced an AARP item on tax credits for family caregivers. The board received brief town updates that the Town Center sidewalk grant decision is expected by the end of the month and that a Sunrise Senior Living project (Edge Hill Road and Norwood Street) has a postponed Planning Board meeting while Sunrise provides outstanding documents.
The board unanimously accepted the Dec. 15 minutes earlier in the meeting and adjourned at 4:05 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9 at 2:30 p.m.
