Supervisors say Crabtree sewage options are under review; solicitor refers SALDO and lighting rules to Planning Commission

At the Aug. 21 meeting, Salem Township supervisors reported progress but no final decisions on two standing issues: Crabtree-area sewage service and proposed revisions to the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO).
When resident Eric Hageder asked for an update on Crabtree sewage, supervisors said engineers have prepared a cost review showing which areas would receive sewer service and which would not. The engineers are preparing a public presentation and stakeholder materials for the next meeting to help inform funding and design decisions.
In the solicitor’s report, Solicitor Falatovich told the board proposed SALDO amendments — including establishing escrow accounts to cover solicitor and engineer fees for land developments — can now be referred to the Planning Commission for its review. He also discussed a separate model lighting ordinance the township could adopt for billboards and signs following court guidance that billboards are not always considered land development. The board agreed to forward the proposed changes for Planning Commission consideration.
No formal votes were recorded on Crabtree design or SALDO content at this meeting; the items remain at the review and planning stage.
