West Dundee board clears equipment and infrastructure purchases, and funds Phase 1 engineering

At its July 6 meeting, the West Dundee Village Board authorized several operational purchases and a small engineering contract aimed at maintaining public services and upgrading technology.
The board approved a purchase not to exceed $25,683 for four to five sets of turnout gear and protective equipment for the fire department to replace and cycle individual firefighter gear. Trustees also authorized an amended purchase order for the village’s virtual server infrastructure with CDW Government for $200,049.10 after vendors cited unexpected price increases; staff said delaying procurement could leave the village with aging, unsupported equipment.
Public Works requested and won approval to buy a modern utility line locator at $7,909 to keep up with mandatory JULIE locates and increased underground work. Trustees acknowledged that the additional unit would improve accuracy and free staff for other tasks.
The board also authorized a professional services proposal with Concentric Integration to upgrade the village SCADA system at a cost of $148,100, citing incompatibility with the village’s planned cloud migration and the age of the current system. Finally, trustees approved a $15,000 Phase 1 engineering services proposal with Baxter & Woodman to begin replacement planning for the Liberty Street lift station, with staff intent to pursue IEPA grant funding for construction.
Each item was approved by voice or roll-call vote as recorded in the meeting minutes; staff noted some purchases respond to vendor pricing pressures and equipment age and will be implemented by the respective departments.
