Fire Chief Stuart told the board that recruits Andrew Bolton and Michael Rosenberg had passed required agility tests, drug screenings and background checks. Alderman Michael Paszek moved to approve the recruits; Alderman Bo Sanders seconded and the motion carried unanimously among members present.
Chief Stuart presented three quotes for five complete sets of turnout gear: Siddons‑Martin Emergency Group at $17,006.20, Banner Fire Equipment at $29,140.00, and BF A Fire & Rescue at $30,905.00. Chief Stuart recommended Siddons‑Martin. Alderman Paszek moved to approve the purchase from Siddons‑Martin for $17,006.20; Vice Mayor Bob Sanders seconded. The board voted to approve the expenditure by those present.
The minutes note the Fire Department will also request new boots and helmets at the August meeting, with an approximate cost of $13,000; that request will be considered by the incoming board.
