Beautification committee reviews Memorial Park plan, discusses façade grant and Feb. 10 joint meeting

At its Jan. 27 meeting the Random Lake Beautification Committee reviewed progress on Memorial Park, discussed next steps for a downtown façade grant program and confirmed a planned Feb. 10 joint meeting with the Random Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Lake, Parks and Recreation Committee.
Chairman Rachel Fuller said final drawings and locations for trees and structures at Memorial Park still need to be finalized with Karen and Eric and that the railroad likely will sign off on the plans when presented; she suggested planting a hedge between the park and the railroad right-of-way. Fuller said the state Department of Natural Resources grant being pursued is for $5,000 but that the project still needs about $6,000 to pay for trees.
Karen Schmitz told the committee the Garden Club is awaiting the final proposal. Kelly Killian suggested contacting the American Legion Auxiliary for donations. Fuller also said once other projects are nearer to finalization the committee can begin working on a downtown façade grant program.
Procedural items: Member Erik Buchelt moved to approve the Dec. 9, 2025 meeting minutes as submitted; Member Blaine Werner seconded and the motion carried 3-0. Chairman Fuller said she plans to schedule a Feb. 10 joint meeting with the Chamber and the Lake, Parks and Recreation Committee to coordinate project planning and outreach.
