Tom Foley, village engineer, told the committee he is working on road ratings and provided an estimate for 1st Street from Butler to Allen: about $25 per square yard for pavement resurfacing and $68 per square yard if a full base replacement is required. Foley said 1st Street's watermain is roughly 90 years old and that utility replacement would need to be included in any reconstruction, so the next step is preparation of a detailed cost estimate.
Members discussed priorities for other streets, with Member Chuck Mueller noting that Industrial Drive was deprioritized in favor of higher‑priority roads. Mueller also asked about working with the railroad; Foley said the village has a contact and has been receiving timely responses, which should reduce scheduling risk. Duane Urbanski suggested adding 2nd Street to the program because of a railroad crossing between Allen and Carroll streets.
The committee also addressed routine maintenance matters: DPW Director Peter Lederer was asked to begin a vehicle-maintenance inventory to support a maintenance plan, and Member Blaine Werner requested quotes for generators at village hall and the DPW shop after reporting frequent outages. Lederer said he would obtain quotes from an electrical contractor and noted the village hall generator might be eligible for a Beautification Committee grant.
The committee listed 1st Street for follow-up on a future agenda and directed staff to produce the detailed cost estimates Foley described.
