Plan Commission recommends four ordinances to the Village Board

The Architectural Review Board/Plan Commission recommended four ordinances to the Village Board at a meeting on Jan. 12, 2026, at 96 Russell Dr. Each recommendation passed on a 6-0 voice vote by members present.
The commission recommended Ordinance 2026-02 to update rules related to the Architectural Review Board so they align with the boards’ current merged practice. Member John Schluechtermann said the boards operate as merged despite not having matching ordinances; Member Barbara Ruege noted an earlier request to keep separate individuals on each board. Member Steven Masslich moved to recommend the ordinance to the Village Board; Member Dave Borchardt seconded and the motion carried 6-0. Building Inspector Roger Kison told members that in other communities he serves there is no separate architectural review board.
Members then recommended Ordinance 2026-03 (Plan Commission rules), Ordinance 2026-04 (building permits) and Ordinance 2026-05 (rules addressing boundaries, appeals, signs and multiple zoning districts including R-1, R-2, R-4, R-5/R-PUD, C-1, C-2, C-3, M-1 and C-4 PUD). Each of those recommendations was moved and seconded and carried 6-0. The minutes record each result as a recommendation to the Village Board; the Village Board will take any final action.
The minutes do not list individual roll-call votes by member; they record the outcome for each motion as "Motion carried 6-0."
