County human-trafficking simulation in Carlisle drew more than 100 attendees; digital-safety follow-up planned

Chair Wanda Hunter told the commission that the Cumberland County Human Trafficking Coalition held a human-trafficking simulation at the YWCA in Carlisle with a panel that included representatives from the district attorney’s office, UPMC CAC and juvenile probation. "We had a really great turnout. There were over a 100 folks that attended," Hunter said.
The coalition plans to hold another session in January focused on digital safety for parents and caregivers, Hunter said. Members of the coalition, borough agencies and local service providers attended the exercise, and Hunter emphasized the value of getting information out to borough residents who may not realize trafficking occurs locally.
The commission heard the report as an outreach update; no formal action or funding decisions were recorded during the meeting. Commissioners encouraged continued community engagement and noted that the coalition’s outreach includes multiple agencies and service providers.
