Rib Lake trustees award $1.16 million street contract, approve water‑tower amendment

The Rib Lake Board of Trustees on Feb. 12 approved a $1,159,585.50 contract award to Steen Construction for the 2nd, 3rd and Church Street project and voted to amend a water‑tower contract by $5,970.

Phil Kriesel of MSA presented the water‑tower amendment and the board approved the change on a motion by Tesch, seconded by Budimlija. The board then voted to award the street project to Steen Construction on a motion by Jones, seconded by Marschke; the motion carried.

The board granted the Rib Lake Community Development Foundation permission to install three “selfie stations” — one each at Pine Island, Lakeview Park and Ice Age Park — after Budimlija moved the measure and Mann seconded. Trustees also voted to renew the Fire Truck Replacement certificate of deposit and the Insurance Deductible CD at the highest available rates, with motions carried unanimously.

Trustees approved proposed changes to Title I (General Provisions) of the municipal Code Book for submittal after discussion and a motion by Jones, seconded by Tesch. President Schreiner then led the board into a closed session under Section 19.85(1)(c) of the Wisconsin statutes to consider employment and compensation matters; a roll call vote was taken and all trustees voted in favor. The board returned to open session with no motions resulting from the closed session.

In departmental updates, the grit remover has been installed at the sewer plant and Cody Lind was noted as the operator in charge for the water plant. The recycling center is hiring a part‑time worker and the library is preparing its summer program.

The board adjourned at 7:58 p.m. with Trustee Mann moving and Marschke seconding the motion to end the meeting.
