Rio board adopts 2026 Fire Association budget; approves library event license and routine business

The Rio Village Board unanimously adopted the 2026 Fire Association budget at its Oct. 6 meeting, after Trustee Stan Stofflet summarized changes to the budget and township contributions. The minutes show the Fire Association budget decreased from $87,690.00 to $83,964.00, while Wyocena’s annual contribution to the association was increased from $15,000 to $30,000. Trustee Jon Landsverk moved to approve the budget; Trustee Stan Stofflet seconded the motion and the board recorded the motion as carried unanimously.
During the Police Report section the board also approved a picnic license for the Rio Area Library Friends to hold a painting event on Oct. 28, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Jon Pribbenow and Library Director Roxanne Staveness named as operators. Trustee James Stilson moved and Trustee Keith Kilen seconded that motion; it carried unanimously.
The board approved invoices as presented. Upcoming meeting dates were announced: a Committee meeting on Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. and the next Village Board meeting on Nov. 3 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
