Rio Village Board approves land use contract and 2025 municipal court budget, declines extra insurance

The Rio Village Board met Jan. 6, 2025, and unanimously approved a land use contract and the village's 2025 municipal court budget, and approved routine invoices, Village President James Olrick said at the meeting.
Trustee Stan Stofflet moved to approve the meeting agenda at 6:00 p.m.; Trustee Keith Kilen seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The board also approved the Dec. 2 meeting minutes after a motion from Trustee Carl Toth that Trustee Jon Landsverk seconded.
Stofflet moved and Kilen seconded a motion to approve a land use contract; the motion carried unanimously. Later in the meeting, trustees approved invoices after a motion from Stofflet and a second from Landsverk. The minutes record those votes as "carried unanimously."
Board members discussed whether to purchase additional insurance for the village. After questions and discussion, trustees decided not to make any changes to the current policy and agreed to review the insurance again next year; the minutes do not show a formal roll-call vote on a change.
Trustee Stan Stofflet presented the Fire Association report and Trustee Carl Toth delivered the library report; the minutes record the reports without further action. On the municipal court item, Stofflet moved and Trustee Carl Toth seconded a motion to approve the 2025 Municipal Court budget; that motion carried unanimously.
The board set upcoming meetings: a committee meeting on Monday, Jan. 20 at 6:00 p.m. and the next Village Board meeting on Monday, Feb. 3 at 6:00 p.m. President James Olrick adjourned the meeting at 6:21 p.m. Amy Stone, clerk, is listed as the recording officer in the minutes.
