Council members suggested installing 'home of the champions' signage at north and south entry points to the borough. "We can put it at the little grassy area where Wendy's was," the mayor said while discussing location and possible cost-sharing with fundraising from the team and modest town support.
Separately, council members and staff reviewed America 250 event finances and rescheduled the parade and block party for Sunday, Labor Day weekend (staging at 9:30 a.m. from Foreshore Pools, march to the band shell). The council reported that concerts and a movie night took place with net receipts and that the town had not disbursed an earlier-authorized $4,000 special-event allocation because sponsorships and committee fundraising covered costs.
The proclamation was followed by brief comments from players, coaches and supporters and a plan to discuss sign wording and installation at a future meeting.
