Austintown approves police MOU, accepts resignations and hires for fire department; funds Safe Haven Baby Box

At its June 15 meeting the Austintown Township Board of Trustees approved personnel and labor items affecting police and fire departments.
Chief Valorie Delmont presented a memorandum of understanding with the Fraternal Order of Police that adds language addressing post-retirement employment; the board unanimously approved the MOU (Resolution #26-06-15-04). The trustees accepted resignations from Dispatcher Kaitlin Arnold (effective June 9), Police Officer Austin Householder (effective June 16), Dispatcher Zachary Williams (effective June 26) and Dispatcher Lilly Boylen (effective June 15) through separate resolutions (#26-06-15-05, #26-06-15-06, #26-06-15-09, #26-06-15-26).
On the fire side, trustees approved hiring Conner Sullivan and Jennifer Arendas as full-time firefighters and Alex Rich as a part-time firefighter; Timothy Heitzer was hired as part-time summer labor at $13.00 per hour (Resolution #26-06-15-12). The board also approved a $25,600 increase in Fire Department appropriations to cover the Safe Haven Baby Box purchase and 2026 maintenance (Resolution #26-06-15-20). Officials said the Safe Haven Baby Box is expected to arrive four to six weeks after funds are received and that installation requires a Mahoning County-registered electrician.
All personnel motions were approved by unanimous roll call votes where recorded.
