Farmingdale schedules DEC inspection after Plant 2 offline; nitrogen detected in Ridge Road well

Village staff said Well 1‑3 is fully operational while the SCADA control system is nearing completion under contractor Eagle Control. PSEGLI was scheduled to adjust transformer voltage on Feb. 6 to address a reported voltage-consistency issue affecting the Yoakum pump station.
The board heard that evaluation of a ground water tank's roof and structure has been completed; next steps for repair or replacement are being developed by John Mirando and D&B. According to the minutes, John Mirando also indicated that "nitrogen is becoming an issue" in one of the Ridge Road wells. Village staff noted that quarterly and annual sampling is ongoing.
Officials did not record any vote or formal directive at the work session. The timeline on remediation, any public-health advisories, and whether temporary drinking-water measures are required will depend on the outcomes of the AOP certification and the DEC inspection.
The board’s next procedural step recorded in the work session minutes was to continue coordination between the Farmingdale Water Department and the South Farmingdale Water District while awaiting regulatory checks and contractor reports.
