At a March 2 work session, the Farmingdale Board of Trustees heard that U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi have committed more than $1.0 million toward the village’s planned replacement of a ground water tank. Village staff said the amount was reported as a partial payment; the exact award amount was not specified in the meeting packet.
The Village’s water operations update said Wells 1–3 are fully operational while Plant 2 Well 2‑2 remains offline until an AOP (approval of operation) is certified. John Mirando, who is leading assessments with consultant D&B, told the board the evaluation of the ground tank roof and structure is complete and next steps for repair or replacement are being developed. The board discussed a proposal for a robotic tank inspection by engineering firm Dvirka and Bartilucci.
Deputy Clerk and water operations staff reported that the village’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system is nearing completion and that Eagle Control is finishing the installation. Village staff also said PSEG Long Island field service addressed a voltage‑consistency issue on Feb. 6. John Falbo reported ongoing wellhouse cleanup, painting and testing and said Merrick Utilities and the Village Water Department completed repairs to a watermain break on Jefferson Road.
Village officials said coordination with the South Farmingdale Water District is working well on operations and planning. No formal vote was recorded; staff outlined next administrative steps for contracting and funding, and said timing for construction or replacement will follow further design and procurement actions.
