The Town of Scarborough Zoning Board of Appeals voted on July 8 to roll a previously tabled appeal to the board’s August meeting, effectively extending the tabling by roughly 30 days.
During discussion board members asked whether the board had the authority to extend the tabling and debated whether the item required a formal vote or could be carried forward. A committee member moved to table the matter to the August meeting, saying, "I move that we approve, tabling it for another 30 days." The board agreed by show of hands.
A board member raised concerns about the appearance that staff might be advocating for particular positions. The chair said he preferred to defer that substantive concern to the scheduled legal training so the town’s legal staff could address questions about staff participation and neutrality.
The chair asked staff to remind parties about the continued hearing date. The meeting then moved to adjournment.
