NCRA to renew master plan but will not seek State DNR Recreation Plan approval now

The Newaygo Community Recreation Authority on March 12 agreed to work on renewing its master plan but opted not to expend funds to pursue approval through the State Department of Natural Resources Recreation Plan Program.
Board members discussed the scope of a renewed NCRA Master Plan and expressed consensus to update the plan internally rather than commit resources to the formal state plan approval process at this time.
During board-member comments, Erik Larsen said the Newaygo American Youth Soccer Organization is seeking volunteer coaches. Members also discussed plans the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly has for removing dams along Penoyer Creek; no formal action was taken on either item.
The authority will proceed with an internal renewal of its master plan and continue community outreach on coach recruitment and watershed matters as appropriate.
