Board outlines field maintenance plans as bidding shifts and diamond dust work is scheduled

Board members on March 12 discussed several park maintenance items, including scheduling for a baseball diamond dust project, the status of fertilizer and herbicide bids, and disc-golf course improvements.
John Clark said the contractor Greenline will begin the baseball diamond dust project once the ground thaws and dries, with the goal of completing the work before the season starts. Clark also said Little League plans to remove railroad ties at the Centerline fields and replace them with parking bumpers.
Kim Goodin gave an update on fertilizer and herbicide quotes: Comstock Turf, the authority’s previous contractor, declined to bid this year; Christian Brothers has submitted quotes for all fields, and Goodin is waiting on potentially two additional quotes. The board’s consensus was to wait for more bids and to consider moving the May meeting to April if scheduling or contracting requires it.
Separately, Asa Vermeulen reported work to widen disc-golf fairways and progress on the course kiosk; he said a local party may host a disc-golf tournament this summer. The board did not take further formal action on these items at the meeting.
