Montague Committee directs clerk to solicit architects to finish community center kitchen

The Township Committee directed the Municipal Clerk to contact at least three professional services to design the community center kitchen using existing plans, following a list of priorities submitted by the Senior Citizens of Montague Township.
Seniors requested additional lockable storage cabinets, accessible shelving, more counter space, a deeper sink, improved lighting, fresh paint, floor covering and a microwave. The Recreation Committee favored removing lockers and installing base and wall cabinets and additional counter space, with an emphasis on lockable storage for the Seniors’ supplies.
Committee discussion identified necessary work: finish floors and walls, install ceiling, cabinetry, countertops and lighting, complete plumbing and a larger sink, add stainless steel prep and warming stations, and consider a patio and walkway for a future grilling area. The Committee agreed that an architect’s detailed drawings are needed for uniform contractor bidding. Ms. Holstein moved to direct the clerk to obtain at least three professional proposals; the motion carried with Ms. Holstein, Mr. Innella, Mr. LeDonne and Mr. Merusi voting yes and Mayor Zitone abstaining.
