Low bid of $101,290 identified for Montague municipal walking path; award delayed pending funding

Harold E. Pellow & Associates reported the re-bid opening for the proposed walking path at the Montague Township Municipal Building produced five bids, with JJJ Solutions Inc. of Rahway submitting the low responsible bid of $101,290 on Dec. 4.
The engineer recommended awarding the contract to the low responsible bidder if the township can identify additional funds and suggested pursuing a grant extension early next year. The bid schedule requires completion by April 20, 2026, while the underlying grant guidelines require completion by April 30, 2026, creating a narrow timing mismatch the township must resolve.
Municipal Clerk Dana Klinger advised the Committee that no contract award can be made until additional funding authorization is obtained. The Committee directed staff to prepare a capital improvement authorization ordinance and a resolution for future consideration and requested the clerk follow up on potential grant-extension options.
