Olanta council approves flood ordinance on second reading, adopts RIA resolution and OKs waste contract

Olanta Mayor Michael W. Welch presided over a special Town Council meeting Tuesday, March 24, at the Town of Olanta Community Center, where the council approved three agenda items unanimously.
The council approved the Flood Prevention Ordinance on its second reading after Mayor Michael W. Welch executed the reading and asked for a motion. Council Member Josh Jones moved to accept the ordinance as read; Council Member Levi Mims seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The council then considered a resolution in support of the RIA Viability Improvement Program. Mayor Welch read the resolution, Council Member Levi Mims moved to accept it as read, and Council Member Josh Jones seconded. The motion was approved unanimously.
Finally, the council discussed a proposed waste management contract. After brief discussion led by Mayor Welch, Council Member Josh Jones moved to approve the contract as presented and Council Member Levi Mims seconded; the motion carried with no opposition.
There were no public comments. Mayor Welch asked for a motion to adjourn; Council Member Josh Jones moved to adjourn, Council Member Levi Mims seconded, and the meeting was adjourned without opposition.
