Marthasville mayor reports storm-related equipment failures, well pump strike and upcoming service hookup

Mayor David Lange told the Board at the Jan. 15 meeting that the city experienced multiple equipment problems during a recent ice/sleet/snow event and that staff worked around the failures to maintain services.
Lange said the brine machine failed and a gear on the salt/cinder spreader went out during the event, but he praised Dave Griffin and the public works crew for their work. He reported that lightning struck a well pump; staff switched to Well 2 as backup, which "worked great," and the damaged pump has been repaired.
Lange also said a representative from Gateway visited city offices and staff expect Gateway to return in roughly ten business days to hook up service. He reported that billing for a bridge repair has been straightened out and that a six-month financial report should be available next month.
