Rockdale board approves minutes, routine finances and hears local updates; reports of Invenergy trucks noted

Village President Alicia Hynes called the Rockdale Village Board to order at 6:04 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Robert M. Smithback Community Center.
The board unanimously approved several routine items, including the draft minutes of the Jan. 19, 2026 meeting (motion by Sarah Halvorson, second by Breah Klemp), the Treasurer’s reports and payment of bills (motion by Breah Klemp, second by Alicia Hynes), the General Village bank reconciliations (motion by Sarah Halvorson, second by Joe Leto), the Sewer Clerk report and related bills (motion by Sam Pelot, second by Breah Klemp), and the Sewer bank reconciliations (motion by Joe Leto, second by Sarah Halvorson). All votes were recorded as 5-0.
Clerk-Treasurer Ann E. Gerlich confirmed the meeting had been properly posted. President Hynes announced the Spring Primary for Feb. 17, 2026, and the Spring Election on April 7, 2026, and reminded attendees of the two-minute public-comment limit.
Under "Any Other Business," the board received an EMS & Fire Commission update noting the next commission meeting is scheduled for Feb. 26, 2026, and a Sewer Commission report stating the sewer project is currently under construction. Board member Sarah Halvorson reported she had submitted a Cambridge Foundation grant request; the minutes do not record details of the request.
The minutes also note reports that Invenergy-branded trucks have been traveling down Highland into Rockdale. Clerk-Treasurer Ann Gerlich said she had contacted Invenergy about the issue.
President Hynes moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:56 p.m.; the motion, seconded by Halvorson, carried 5-0. The minutes were signed by Clerk-Treasurer Ann E. Gerlich.
