Marthasville mayor reports vandalism, cameras planned and street updates; playground quote reviewed

Mayor David Lange used the Oct. 16 meeting to update the Board of Aldermen on several city-maintenance and community items.
Lange said DNR restrooms (not city-owned) and Katy Trail restrooms were vandalized over the recent weekend and that investigators have good leads on who committed the damage. He also reported that Ra‑Comm was in town to identify where cameras should be installed at City and Rusche parks and would return to confirm placements at City Hall.
On the city’s street project, Lange said additional curb and gutter was poured on South Street and that Four Street was being cleaned and prepped. He told the board he became frustrated with Ameren UE for a delayed pole removal and the city took down the pole itself.
Board members raised neighborhood concerns: Alderman Dixon asked whether residents with ducks had been spoken to because they are "still quacking," and Alderman DeVore asked whether Kevin Harrison had been consulted about dirt bikes and off‑road vehicles; Mayor Lange said he had spoken with Harrison and encouraged residents to call dispatch if incidents occur.
On parks matters, the City Park Board discussed adding track lighting on a dimmer switch and Mayor Lange said he would consult David Griffin for his input. The mayor also said he met this week with the Mentz Foundation and obtained a quote to fix a bridge; the board will need to approve that quote at a future meeting.
Regarding playground equipment, Lange relayed that a representative from Miracle told him the city’s equipment "is up to safety standards" and that the representative had not previously heard of an insurance company making the suggested recommendations. No procurement decision was made during the meeting.
The Chamber of Commerce’s pumpkin hunt is scheduled for Oct. 19 at City Park. The mayor and staff will follow up on camera placement, the Lamke payment review and the bridge-repair quote at future meetings.
The meeting later recessed and entered executive session under Section 610.022 RSMo for legal, real-estate and personnel matters; no executive-session details are recorded in the minutes.
