Olanta council names Josh Jones mayor pro tem, affirms town attorney and accountant

At its Jan. 8 meeting the Olanta Town Council moved to formalize leadership and administrative contracts for the year. Council Member Marsha Jordan nominated and moved to approve Council Member Josh Jones as Mayor Pro Tem; Mayor Michael W. Welch seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Welch announced that John Dubose had been chosen to serve as the town attorney and moved to retain him; the council approved the retention unanimously. The minutes record somewhat inconsistent motion language for the town attorney retention (see audit) but record a unanimous approval.
The council also agreed to keep accounting firm Poston, Moore & Moore for town accounting services. Mayor Welch recommended retaining the firm and the council approved the retention unanimously. The meeting minutes again contain repetition in the motion language, which is noted in the audit; no fiscal details or contract terms were provided during the meeting.
