Board hears explanation of a $46,000 line on the register and audit/fund-balance update

During the financial review, the Library director (S3) addressed a $46,000 line that initially appeared to be a single large substitute expense and explained the bulk was the annual Winnefox library-system subscription and related shared-services charges.
"Like the way it's labeled, I was like, was this put in right? ... Actually, the biggest chunk is probably I think it's 41 to $42,000 is our, Winnefox library system cost ... we pay about 41 $42,000 a year just to have that service," the director (S3) said.
She explained the check-register presentation bundled multiple charges under the single line and said other portions of the total cover statewide OverDrive/Libby access and collection-service fees. Board members noted the size of the recurring subscription and acknowledged the value of the shared circulation and delivery system.
The director said an audit that had been pending was finished in December and reported a verbal fund-balance figure of $24,000; she said the board planned to add $16,000, leaving about $8,000 remaining in fund balance pending written confirmation.
No formal budgeting decisions were taken at the meeting; the director said she would obtain written confirmation of the audit figures for the board.
