Boonsboro council approves routine contracts, donates $100 to Envirothon and tables zoning fee change

Boonsboro Mayor and Council approved a series of routine contracts and donations during their Feb. 10, 2025 regular meeting. Assistant Mayor Tony Nally moved to renew the town’s auditing contract with Albright, Crumbacker, Moul & Itell for $21,500 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025; Council Member Marilee Kerns seconded and the motion carried.
The council also voted to renew the 2025 mowing services contract with Yetter’s Lawn Care at $32,620 (about $1,165 weekly), with Public Works Superintendent Greg Huntsberry recommending renewal based on dependability. The motion to renew was made by Council Member Kerns and seconded by Assistant Mayor Nally; it carried.
On donations, the council voted 5–1 to donate $100 to the Washington County Soil Conservation District to support the county Envirothon on April 3, 2025; Assistant Mayor Nally moved the donation, Council Member Terri Hollingshead seconded, and Council Member Ray Hanson opposed the allocation. The council declined a separate donation request from the Washington County Commission on Aging for its 'Light Up the Night' gala after a motion by Council Member Hollingshead, seconded by Assistant Mayor Nally.
The council also moved to TABLE Resolution 2025-01 (an amendment to the Resolution 2024-04 Zoning Fee Schedule) until the Boonsboro Municipal Utilities Commission can review it. Council Member Eric Kitchen moved to table and Assistant Mayor Nally seconded; the planner noted that a developer interested in the Kueffner Farm project may face a $25,000 fee to use the town’s WRA water and sewer hydraulic model, a cost the planner said would be the developer’s responsibility.
Other routine agenda items — including approval of the Jan. 13 minutes and the January 2025 Treasurer’s Report — were approved earlier in the meeting. The council adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
