Waldo Water & Sewer Utility Board approves vouchers, hears operations and repair updates

The Waldo Water & Sewer Utility Board on Feb. 10 approved monthly vouchers and the January treasurer’s report, heard that effluent parameters met regulatory limits and was briefed on planned repairs and equipment replacements.
President Gary Dekker called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Trustees Jerome Hammarlund, Steve Bunnow, Dennis Reinemann and Mike Hintz attended; Bruce Neerhof, operator-in-charge, participated by phone and Lisa Gillette served as clerk/treasurer.
Trustee Steve Bunnow moved to approve the minutes from the Jan. 13, 2025 board meeting; Trustee Dennis Reinemann seconded and the motion carried, according to the minutes.
In the operations report staff said all effluent parameters met required limits and that phosphorus remained under effluent limits after adding water to the head end of septic tanks. Staff reported that the annual 2024 cross-connection report was completed and submitted to the Department of Natural Resources and that Bruce Neerhof completed his portion of the 2024 Public Service Commission report. The board was told a new effluent sampler controller has been ordered and is expected to arrive March 5. The utility contractor, Great Lakes, will return to line a pipe where a hole was identified and will grout other discovered leaks. Staff also completed the Public Water System monitoring waiver application.

Trustee Jerome Hammarlund moved to adjourn at 7:06 p.m.; Trustee Mike Hintz seconded and the meeting adjourned. The board did not record additional public comments or correspondence at the meeting.
