Board approves multiple job descriptions, staff salary schedule and hiring items

The Brooklyn Area School District Board approved a slate of personnel items during its meeting, including the 2026-27 staff salary and wages schedule, updated job descriptions for several director positions and routine personnel actions.

Chair opened new business and asked for a motion to approve the 2026-27 staff salary and wages. Members moved, seconded and recorded affirmative votes during a roll-call sequence that followed the voice-vote workaround for a malfunctioning touchscreen system. The board then considered and approved K-8 math and literacy screening recommendations and an elementary science recommendation that were presented for adoption.

The board reviewed and approved updated job descriptions for Director of Technology, Director of Pupil Services, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and Director of Special Education. Members discussed whether to rename the business manager position to include "Director," and staff noted the current title aligns with the holder's degree and license; the job description ultimately was approved as written.

Personnel items including professional staff resignations, promotions/transfers and hires were moved, seconded and adopted as part of the consent agenda. A community member praised a recent middle-school dress-code change during public comment on the consent agenda.

Why it matters: these approvals set staffing structures and compensation for the coming year and will affect implementation of curricular and operational priorities the board has discussed.

The meeting later moved to other business, including finance and school-operations reports, and the board convened to closed session for confidential matters.
