Walworth board accepts Councilwoman Amber Linson’s resignation; special meeting set to fill vacancy

The Walworth Town Board voted June 18 to accept Councilwoman Amber Linson’s resignation effective June 30, 2026, and moved to begin the process of filling the vacancy.
Councilwoman Linson offered the resolution accepting her resignation and Councilman Daniel Botsford seconded it; the board adopted the measure by roll call. Board members spoke in gratitude for Linson’s service during a short discussion before the vote.
Supervisor Laura Elsbree announced her intent to name Councilman Craig Jeffers as Deputy Supervisor effective July 1, 2026, and later the board adopted a separate resolution removing Linson’s check-signing authority and authorizing Jeffers to sign checks and facsimile signatures effective that date.
The board also announced a special meeting on July 7, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Town Hall to hold walk-in interviews and enter executive session to interview candidates for the remainder of Linson’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2026. The appointment will be made by the Town Board following the interview process.
During public comment, resident Mike Donalty praised Linson’s service, noting roles she held on local projects and civic organizations. Resident Joseph Janto asked about the town’s comprehensive plan review process and how residents can provide input, a procedural question the board acknowledged for follow-up.
Formal votes recorded for the resignation resolution and the check-signing authorization were completed by roll call at the June 18 meeting. The Town Clerk will retain official records of the resignation letter and subsequent board actions.
