Maysville aldermen approve consent agenda and several administrative items

At its Jan. 22 meeting, the Maysville Board of Aldermen approved a routine consent agenda that included the minutes from Jan. 8, 2025, and listed checks for water, wastewater, street, general and payroll accounts. Alderman Amy Justus moved approval; Alderman Larry Zieber seconded and the motion carried.
The board also approved the publication of the financial statement covering July 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2024, after a motion from Alderman Clint Sollars which Alderman Justus seconded. The board approved Pat’s request to attend her yearly clerk conference in March.
City Clerk Jennifer Justus reported operational items: a faulty phone cord in her office for which she ordered a replacement so staff would not need attic access, ordered mini blinds for city windows, and said she had forwarded an animal complaint to the city attorney but had not received a response. Board members asked staff to search older minutes for records about the road between the school and the agricultural building, and the board agreed the road is not currently a city street based on available records. The board also agreed staff may unplug Christmas lights and remove them as weather permits.
The board reviewed quotes for a new salter and decided to include that purchase in next year’s budget rather than proceed immediately. A request from a caller, Michele, asked that the board meet with county commissioners and Trevor Tutt of MoKan on Jan. 28 to discuss highway-improvement funding; the caller’s request was recorded in the minutes.
